OUR Investment APPROACH

Value investors

We are value investors who look for attractive investment opportunities but not at any price.  Value investing, put simply, is buying securities that are underpriced based on fundamental analysis.

As Warren Buffet, the most well known proponent of value investing has said, "Whether we’re talking about socks or stocks, I like buying quality merchandise when it is marked down."  At New Vernon, we do our own analysis to find securities that either trade at discounts to book value or tangible book value, have high dividend yields, have low price-to-earning multiples or have low price-to-book ratios.

This investment approach has served us and our clients well over the years.

personalized investment plans

We recognize that each client has different investment goals, cash needs and risk tolerance.

Our process begins by learning about our client's goals and needs. We then typically will develop one or more asset allocation strategies for our client and design a preliminary model portfolio, as well as an execution timeline for implementation. These are reviewed with the client and may be revised based on client feedback.

Once the investment plan has been finalized we begin the implementation. We then monitor the securities within the portfolio and make adjustments as needed to optimize returns.

  • Built on proven value investment philosophy
  • Actively managed to preserve capital and optimize returns
  • Manage clients' money the same as we do our own, conflict-free

your own managed account

Our clients are served via a New Vernon Wealth Management Account (WMA) which has a competitive, client-aligned fee structure – with no churning, no hidden charges, no leverage and total transparency.

Rather than invest in mutual funds that carry additional charges, lack real-time transparency and often hold over-lapping securities we buy individual stocks and bonds. These are selected and monitored by our investment team.

Clients have online access to accounts – any time, anywhere. They receive regular monthly statements and periodic portfolio reviews. And they can simply call us to discuss their portfolio whenever they wish.
